Message from the Representative
Since becoming an independent freelance translator, I have built my practical experience mainly in the field of patent translation.
In patent translation, it is not enough for a translation to be natural as English or Japanese.
It is necessary to consider the structure of the claims, their relationship with the specification, terminology consistency, technical understanding, and how the document will be used in the context of patent application and prosecution.
At Strands International Co., Ltd., we value this practical perspective and provide translation services that support professionals involved in intellectual property work.
In our daily work, we also strive to create a balanced and mutually beneficial working relationship among rights holders and representatives, external partners, and our company.

Representative Profile
After graduating from Kobe University, I became an independent freelance translator.
After gaining practical experience in English–Japanese and Japanese–English translation, I began focusing on patent translation and have handled projects from domestic and overseas translation companies, patent firms, and intellectual property-related businesses.
I currently serve as the representative of Strands International Co., Ltd., where I handle patent translation, technical translation, and quality control.
My main technical fields include chemistry, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, materials, machinery, electrical engineering, IT, and telecommunications.
I handle various types of documents used from patent filing to Office Action response, including patent specifications, claims, abstracts, text in drawings, Office Actions, written opinions, amendments, and responses.
In patent translation, I believe it is important not only to produce readable translations, but also to consider the correspondence between the claims and the specification, terminology consistency, technical understanding, and possible effects on the scope of rights.
As a bridge between technology and intellectual property practice, I provide translations that support my clients’ work.
